L'il Kim has revealed that she has a lot in common with Nelson Mandela, after all they share the same star sign.

The diminutive singer was among the stellar cast singing at the South African leader's birthday party in New York.

"I see a lot myself in him, he is a Cancer, just like I am," Kim said prior to her performance.

At the event held at the city's Radio City Music Hall, Kim dueted with Cyndi Lauper.

The pair sang a stripped-down version of Lauper's classic Time After Time.

Speaking about Mandela prior to singing, Kim said: "I would love to meet him. He makes me smile just when I see him."

Asked what gift she would like to give the 91-year-old, the rapper replied: "I want him to be able to wish for something, have three wishes and get them all, right in front of his eyes."
