Jude Law is to father a fourth child after a relationship with a mystery woman, his spokeswoman has revealed.

The 36-year-old actor has vowed to play a "fully supportive" role in the child's life despite being no longer in a relationship with the mother-to-be.

Law, who starred in the remake of the film Alfie, has broken the news to ex-wife Sadie Frost and his three children.

A spokeswoman for the actor said: "I can confirm that following a relationship last year, Jude Law has been advised by the birth mother that he is to be the father of a child due in the autumn of this year.

"He is no longer in a relationship with her but he intends to be a fully supportive part of the child's life.

"This is an entirely private matter and no further statements will be made."

According to the Daily Mirror, the relationship took place while he was working on the set of new movie Sherlock Holmes in New York, over Christmas.

The mother-to-be is seven months pregnant, it emerged.

After his seven year marriage to Frost, 44, ended in 2003, Law began dating Sienna Miller.
