Victoria Beckham apparently helped her husband David's injury woes by ordering pizzas to the Finland clinic where he underwent surgery.
The former Spice Girl landed at Heathrow Airport on Tuesday looking demure in a black dress and cardigan before jetting off to the Scandinavian country to visit her husband, whose Achilles' tendon injury has ruled him out of the World Cup.
After arriving at a snowy Turku airport, she was taken to the clinic in a Volkswagen van with tinted windows and spent the night at the Mehilainen Clinic, with local newspapers reporting they ordered pizzas.
Orthopaedic surgeon Sakari Orava stressed the importance of having family close by.
"One's family really can help a lot in such situations," Orava said. "It's understandable that such a serious injury, which in the worst-case scenario could end one's career, can be depressing and the role of the family is to give support."
Orava said Beckham was a good patient.
"He is a very sympathetic, peaceful and nice person. Looks you in the eyes," Orava said. "Our nurses also said that he's a great patient and doesn't complain about anything."
The couple left Finland on Wednesday afternoon. Police pushed back reporters and photographers as the Beckhams left, escorted by two police cars.
Orava, who had previously said they would travel to London and later to the US, said he "had no idea where they are flying to".
"I did say that perhaps it would not be wise to fly straight off to Los Angeles ... that he should stop somewhere first," he said.
