Crewe & Nantwich by-election could be dreadful!

THE Crewe and Nantwich by-election looks like it's going to be close. The idea of a Tory MP for our area fills me with dread. They already run the council (badly!), and without a strong voice to stand up for us, I'm concerned the council will ride roughshod over Crewe. Especially given that Mr Timpson appears to be a wealthy rural Cheshire type - I don't see what this remote figure can offer working people in Crewe.

I met Gwyneth's daughter, Tamsin, today and I was very impressed. I've always been a Labour voter, and I don't see any reason to change that. My impression is that she's well prepared to carry on our wonderful former MP's legacy.

Carole,

In what way is she well prepared? Thus far, Ms Dunwoody has pointedly failed to speak out about the 10p tax, detention without charge, dodgy Labour loans, ID Cards or any other wobbly policy emanating from her political masters in London.

Her campaign website tells us nothing except that she's "a fighter"; but fails to explain how she'll fight or what she will fight over! Her message (like your's) is one that plays up fear, spite and envy against her rivals.

Contrast that with Mr Timpson's campaign website that is informative, detailed and positive about the future for Crewe and Nantwich. He also has the advantage that he's been listening to the concerns of the local people while the Labour and Liberal candidates were waiting for their luggage at the airport.

Sadly, Ms Dunwoody is nothing like her much admired and respected mother. Gwyneth was an outsider 'within'... Tamsin is very much an insider, seeking power and priviledge for her own comfort. A Labour puppet who would quickly doom the great towns of Crewe and Nantwich to anonymity while she suckles at the teat of a corrupt Government.

Can somebody please explain to me why the Crewe electrate turned to the Tories at this local election ?

The electrate must have been aware that the New Labour Government have been following Thatcherite policies re- privatisation, tax and pensions from their general election victory in 1997 ?

Everything happening now here in Britain, would have happened the very same if Margaret Thatcher had won the 1997 general election, infact things would have been much worse for the poor.

So can sombody please explain to me why did the Crewe electrate give the right wing opposition, a clear mandate to continue trashing New Labour as a "Labour" Government, when they are nothing more than a New right wing Labour Government.

Why couldnt the Crewe electrate have voted for the Lib-Dem candidate if they really wanted to give New Labour a thumbs down ?
