It seems like a traditional yoga just won’t cut it anymore – weird and wonderful alternative classes have been popping up all over the place, from laughter yoga to stand up paddleboarding yoga, and even nude yoga.

Now Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa in the Lake District has launched ‘Lemoga’ – with lemurs.

Next door to the hotel is the Lake District Wildlife Park and apparently lemurs, part of the primate family, are friendly and outgoing, making them perfect yoga buddies. The class promises to help reduce stress, blood pressure and make you laugh, because, look how cute they are!

It’s part of the hotel’s ‘meet the wildlife’ wellness programme, combining nature and mindfulness experiences, which also include walking with alpacas and meeting meerkats.

Carolyn Graves, owner of Armathwaite Hall, says: “As a wellness destination, we’re used to providing our guests with outdoor experiences which help relieve the symptoms of city living such as stress, sleep and pollution.   Lemoga offers our guests the chance to feel at one with nature, at the same time joining in with the lemurs’ play time.”

If that doesn’t make you want to book immediately, the hotel also sits on the beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake, within 400 acres of private woodland. If you’re outdoorsy, there are opportunities for hiking, cycling and canoeing – or just spend all your time in their award-winning spa.
