Emergency services were called to an address first floor flat in Bramhall Road, Crewe, at 3.37pm on Monday.
One fire engine attended from Crewe and one from Nantwich.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire which was in the kitchen.
“They then cleared smoke from the property using a large fan.”
