SECONDARY school league tables ranking schools on their progress in east Cheshire have been published today.

Schools are judged by two recently new measures, Progress 8 and Attainment 8, which focus on the results of a pupil's best eight GCSE results including English and maths.

Progress 8 assigns a score based on how well pupils have performed between the end of primary school and GCSEs.

Attainment 8 is the raw results across individual pupils' best eight subjects including English, maths, three English Baccalaureate qualifications and three other additional approved qualifications.

St Thomas More Catholic High School, A Specialist School for Maths and ICT, in Crewe, topped the tables in east Cheshire with an above average Progress 8 score of +0.4.

Wilmslow High School and Knutsford High School achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.14 and +0.13 respectively.

Middlewich High School achieved a score of -0.15, which is average.

Sir William Stanier Community School in Crewe was well below average, with a score of -0.71. The Oaks Academy, also in Crewe, was also well below average with a score
