MORE than 500 Sealed Knot troops will descend on Nantwich tomorrow, for the annual reenactment of the Battle of Nantwich.

Commemorating the 1644 battle between the Parliamentarians and Royalists as part of the English Civil War, the day will feature parades, displays and the battle itself.

Prior to the Battle, which takes place on Mill Island at 2pm, visitors can enjoy music and entertainment from local performers in St Mary's Church from 10am to 12.30pm.

This is a change of venue due to forecast rain in the morning.

The Nantwich Museum will have Pike and Muscat displays along with music of the period and tours of the town from 10am.

The parade of troops will leave Malbank School in Welsh Row and parade into town ready for the wreath laying service at 1pm.

The battle is run by a small team of volunteers. It costs just £2 for adults and £1 for children to enter the battlefield.
