STEAM train enthusiasts are in for a treat on Saturday, March 17 when The Steam Dreams Rail Co will be heading off from Crewe to give locals the chance to travel by steam along the famous Settle and Carlisle Railway.

The train will be diesel hauled to Yorkshire, before steam locomotive 45690 Leander takes the burden, as it makes its way along the most scenic route in England through the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines.

Passengers will catch a glimpse of the spectacular Cumbrian Mountains before reaching the historic city of Carlisle.

Passengers will then have nearly two hours to explore the ancient city of Carlisle, with its many historic buildings, award winning museums and bustling shopping district.

The return journey however, will be the highlight of the tour, when passengers are taken, steam-hauled, over the iconic Settle and Carlisle Railway, widely known to be one of the most beautiful and scenic lines in England.

Steam Dreams Founder, Marcus Robertson said: “The Settle and Carlisle is truly a masterpiece of Victorian engineering. Passengers can’t help but be amazed when they see it.

"This trip is spectacular and with its stunning scenery is set to be a sell-out. Combine that with the beautiful carriages, superb food and friendly and efficient staff and you have the perfect recipe for a magical day out”.

Tickets for the trip are available in four classes, ranging from £119 per person in Premium Standard through to the top class of Pullman Style Dining at £279 per person.

Passengers travelling in Pullman Style will enjoy a two-course champagne brunch on the outward journey and a three-course dinner on the return, whilst those opting for Premium Standard will be seated at tables of four in open carriages and served with complimentary tea and coffee at their seats.
