CHARITY volunteers have been recognised for their long service and contribution.

The celebration event was held at the Barnardo’s retail store in Tatton Street, Knutsford to acknowledge the efforts of the store’s volunteers.

The Mayor of Knutsford, Cllr Peter Coan and Mayoress Ann Coan presented a variety of awards to Barnardo’s volunteers, and spoke to them afterwards about their roles.

Elizabeth Quayle and Patricia Howlett received awards for 10 years of volunteering with Barnardo’s.

Mary Stowell and Hasne Ara Mahmood received awards to mark their five years of volunteering with the charity.

Recognition and gratitude awards were also presented to other volunteers, and awards were given to young people who are completing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards and have undertaken work experience in the Knutsford store.

Adrian Harrison, Barnardo’s store manager at Knutsford said: “As the manager, I am proud of all my volunteers and each one of them fully deserved their awards.

“Volunteering can be great fun and those who volunteer with us have learned new skills, met new friends and feel pleased to know they have done something meaningful and rewarding in supporting young vulnerable people.

“If anyone is interested in becoming a volunteer with the Knutsford store and may have a spare hour or two to give each week, I would be delighted to meet you.”
