MOULTON residents are being urged to have their say on a document which will help shape development in the village through to 2030.

A draft version of the Moulton Neighbourhood Plan (NP) is currently out for consultation, with Cheshire West and Chester Council accepting feedback until Friday, November 23.

If accepted once it passes through various stages, the NP will complement the CWAC Local Plan and allows residents to have their say in what development takes place in the village.

Although the NP cannot outright block or reject development as laid out in the CWAC Local Plan, it offers those within the community to lay out priorities and influence change.

The NP’s ‘vision and aims’ are laid out in the document, available on CWAC’s website.

It said: “Moulton aims to have a thriving and prosperous community which delivers a high-quality lifestyle for all its residents. The parish supports a strong local economy that has a positive relationship with the natural environment, promotes sustainable development that meets the needs of local people, and incorporates high quality design standards to mitigate flood risks and climate change impacts.”

Key policies focus on protecting and enhancing the village’s character and heritage, its green space, promoting sustainable business, improving traffic and transport, maintaining a housing provision and boosting services and amenities.

The document has been put together by a steering group, with help from surveys of the village’s residents.

It added: “The Moulton Neighbourhood Plan is to be shaped by and produced for the local community.

“The role of the steering group was to at as facilitators in enabling local residents, businesses and community groups to determine the focus of their Neighbourhood Plan and devise policies to tackle local issues.

“The Moulton Neighbourhood Plan has been prepared for the community by the community.”

The plan will eventually be assessed by borough council planning officers, the government’s planning inspectorate, and finally a village referendum.
