ROBERTS Bakery will treat 60 lucky Goostrey residents to a bread-making extravaganza as part of the village’s famous two-week Goosfest Festival.
The bakery has already thrown open the doors of The Exploratory – its famous concept kitchen – to the first group of budding bakers who learned how to make sour dough bread with veteran baker Wayne Hewitt.
Head baker Wayne has worked for Roberts for 36 years. Three more groups of people are set to bake with Wayne on 22, 24 and 29 October.
New product development manager and Roberts family member Karol Roberts conjured up a tasty recipe for the bread, which used a host of unusual ingredients, including fermented Tatton ale and Cheshire cheese.
Lindsay Occleston, a Goostrey resident and Roberts family member, organised the bread-making events.
She said: “We’ve been involved in this superb local festival for a few years now, and we’ve always has a sell-out response from residents who want to learn all the secrets of bread-making.
“Last time, I hosted the event at my home in Goostrey, but so many people wanted to take part this year that we decided to make it even bigger and run four special events in The Exploratory.
“This amazing new kitchen was the perfect setting for our guests to create some delicious loaves and everyone really enjoyed the experience. We can’t wait to do it again next year.”
