NORTHWICH Town Council has dedicated its recent national award win to a community stalwart.

The council picked up ‘Council of the Year’ at a National Association of Local Councils ceremony in Milton Keynes, in recognition of its work in improving services for residents.

At a meeting on Monday, councillors voted unanimously to dedicate the award to Brian Jamieson, who has served the community in a number of voluntary roles for more than 40 years.

Cllr Andrew Cooper said: “I would like to pay thanks to the contribution of Cllr Brian Jamieson.

“He has served this community one way or another for four decades – more often than not from the front as a school governor and a councillor.

“His dedication, attention to detail and determination for Northwich has made this a better council and driven us to do better for our residents.”

The council agreed that the mayor, Cllr Alison Gerrard, would write to Cllr Jamieson and his family thanking him for his contribution and efforts.
