A NORTHWICH shopper who bagged a £100 shopping voucher for supporting her town's high street has chosen Bratts to spend her winnings in.

Helena Abblett entered the Northwich BID's competition during the Great British High Street Awards voting stage, in which Northwich was a highly-commended runner up.

Entrants had to upload a photo of Northwich to social media with two hashtags, and Helena was the randomly-selected winner.

The prize was £100-worth of vouchers to spend in a retailer of her choice, with Helena opting for family-owned department store Bratts.

She said: “I was really happy to find out that I’d won, especially as it was a competition that was about celebrating Northwich’s high street.

"I grew up in Northwich and it has been great to see the town centre improve in recent years, with a growing group of great independent businesses

“I picked Bratts because I felt it would offer a range of choice and I’ve still not decided how I’m going to spend my vouchers."

A fan of shopping at independent businesses, Helena has also backed Northwich as the ideal place for a shopping experience over the festive season.

“Northwich has some great local businesses and they bring real character to the town,” she said.

“The Salty Dog deserves all the good reviews it receives, and I really like how Abda’s is promoting the local art scene. Macouti is another favourite shop and my daughter loves the bath bombs they sell.”

“This Christmas I’ll definitely be shopping local where I can and putting some money into the local economy.”

Helena will be heading into Bratts before Christmas, but she is undecided on what to buy – and who for.

She said: "I will probably spend my vouchers on Christmas gifts for my family, but I there’s still a chance I might just buy myself a new pair of boots instead.”
