EXCITING plans to create a healthier environment have been welcomed by a local MP.

Eddisbury MP Antoinette Sandbach met a representative of Cheshire Wildlife Trust to discuss environmental priorities in the constituency.

Mrs Sandbach said:“I am pleased to support the Wildlife Trust’s exciting campaigns in the Eddisbury area.”

The trust's proposed new project will allow young people and those with disabilities to take part in conservation projects across the borough.

“This will be good not just for the environment but also a great opportunity for the local community," added Mrs Sandbach.

"Volunteers will be able to contribute positively to their surroundings, learn new skills and enjoy new experiences at the same time.

“I would like to commend Katie Greenwood from the Cheshire Wildlife Trust for her dedication to both the environment and to local wildlife.”

The trust has been acting as a voice to protect wildlife in the region for more than 50 years.

Working across Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, Stockport, Warrington, Tameside, Trafford and Wirral, members and volunteers manage more than 40 nature reserves with habitats ranging from grasslands and wet meadows to reedbeds, coastal dunes and woodland.

Their conservation projects focus on aspects as diverse as restoring traditional wildflower meadows, the re-introduction and protection of species, restoring wetlands and reinstating local woodlands with lost scenes of traditional English bluebells.
