A KINGSMEAD woman has lent her gift-wrapping expertise to a BBC programme’s Christmas special.

Tricia Sage, who runs Sage and Time Wrapport bespoke gift-wrapping service, was invited to take part in the Shop Well For Less festive episode, alongside presenter Steph McGovern.

She spent the day filming in Chorley back in October, offering cost-cutting tips and tricks which aired last night, Wednesday, as households across the country stock up on wrapping paper and ribbons.

Tricia, 53, said: “I have a small website and they must have found me through that.

“It was a bit of shock, and when the email came through I turned around to colleagues and asked whether they thought it was a scam.

“It was an opportunity that came out of the blue but one I had to take.”

Having always had an interest in gift-wrapping, Tricia – a full-time project manager at the University of Liverpool – took part in a workshop last December which led to setting up a small side business.

The journey has included bespoke wrapping jobs and delivering workshops of her own, before the filming opportunity came around.

Tricia said: “I went out to Chorley for a location filming session one afternoon in October, for the Christmas special episode.

“With the shop being ‘Shop Well for Less’, they were looking at keeping costs to a minimum and I was giving tips about how to save on wrapping.

“One of the key things is to take the time to measure, for a more professional finish with less waste.”

Speaking to the Guardian before the show aired, Tricia said: “It could be 15 seconds or it could be 15 minutes, but I am looking forward to it.”
