YOUNG adults from Petty Pool College have raised more than £4,500 on a singing tour, bringing festive cheer to shoppers across the north west.

The student singers, who have learning disabilities, sang and danced to Christmas classics during a four-day carol spectacular last week.

Destinations included Warrington, the Trafford Centre, Liverpool One and Chester, with money helping Petty Pool organise more activities. They also topped up donations by selling raffle tickets to shoppers.

Their efforts mean Petty Pool Christmas will include an onsite, wheelchair accessible ice rink with a festive BBQ, roasted chestnuts and all the best Christmas songs.

This will be followed by a Student Achievement Awards ceremony at the Christmas party, enjoyed by staff and students at the Vale Royal Abbey.

Chief executive Jayne Wilson said: “It is so important for our students to have an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments.

"Our ice rink and Christmas party are essential parts our student calendar and are looked forward to with much anticipation.

"They provide the perfect opportunity for our students to develop their social skills, solidify friendships and enjoy a magical festive season.”
