OUTLINE plans for up to 11 town centre apartments have been rejected by planning chiefs.

An application for the block of flats, on land at the junction of Old Warrington Road and Leicester Road, was lodged in April.

But Cheshire West and Chester Council officers last week refused to grant planning permission.

The plans had been met with objections from nearby residents in Brook Street, Ash Street and Oak Street, who submitted a petition due to traffic concerns.

The original planning statement for the ‘low cost market value housing’ had said: “This is a sustainable location and development of this site will help to enhance the economic growth of the area, in turn providing economic benefits to the local community.”

Plans had been to build eight two-bedroom and three one-bedroom apartments.
