A crowdfunding campaign has been launched in a bid to revamp a playground in Sundridge.

Friends of Kings Meadow community group was formed in January 2018 and has spent months developing a project to improve the park.

With a growing membership, the group has consulted with parents over ways to upgrade the play area in Burnt Ash Lane.

FOKM’s proposal is to remove the fence between the field and current playground to create a bigger space with new equipment.

Now, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched in an effort to raise much-needed cash to improve the park.

FOKM hopes to raise £5,500 – which will be boosted by a contribution from Bromley Council of £15k from its community fund, with the rest of the cash coming from external grants.

Caroline Navin, chairwoman of Friends of Kings Meadow, said: “Any amount is gratefully received as it all counts towards our final target. A small donation by many people can achieve so much.

“Achieving donations of £5,500 would mean we are one step closer to our goal of a playground with equipment for all ages and abilities – from younger children right up to pre-teens, ensuring that those with mobility issues are catered for too. It will be the hub of the community.”

A total of £70k is needed to revamp the much-loved green space, with parents wanting to see more wheelchair-accessible and imaginative play equipment.

Bromley Council agreed last year to bid for extra funding from the National Lottery fund to help make up the rest of the costs.

It is expected the project will be completed during 2019/20.
