THREE months on from the death of Ann Marie Pomphret, detectives are continuing to pursue a number of lines of inquiry to bring her killer to justice.

The 49-year-old, known to many as Marie, was found dead at her stables off Old Alder Lane in Burtonwood on the evening of November 2.

A 50-year-old man arrested on suspicion of her murder remains on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

Simon Blackwell, detective chief inspector at Cheshire Police′s major investigation team, said: “Rest assured that we are working to get the bottom of this. No case will be forgotten and that’s the same with this case.

“We are actively pursing all the evidence.

“I would not want people to be unduly and unnecessarily concerned. We are putting full resources into securing charges and finding out what has gone on.

“It is a slow and methodical process as we piece together all the witness accounts and information as well all the work we have carried out to date around the scene and forensics.

“We have had some positive witness enquiries that have come forward so the public appeal has borne fruit and helped with our investigation but we would like to appeal for more witnesses to come forward.”

Detectives and forensic experts spent weeks searching the stables and surrounding area where her body was found in this secluded area of Warrington.

As a result, police believe her death was a definite act of criminality after Marie suffered serious head injuries.

“We are keeping all avenues open and are following the evidence,” said DCI Blackwell, when questioned if police are looking for anyone else in relation to her death.

“We are open minded as to who was involved.”

Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of officers and detectives continue to follow the main lines of inquiry, support the victim’s family as they come to terms with her death and pursue witnesses in the case.
