YOUNG swimming sensations in Penketh have been reaping the rewards of their hard work in the water during the past six months.

Presentation evenings were held during meetings of Penketh Swimming Club, at Penketh Pool, to celebrate the efforts of its talented members.

Each received a six month award, which marks good attendance, effort, improvement and behaviour.

Club chairman Geoff Fellows said: "It's important we recognise those who have made outstanding improvements last term however everyone at the club has worked hard and we encourage all of our swimmers to be the best they can be.

"Our club was established in 1974, literally weeks after the pool was officially opened and we are proud to celebrate 45 years of voluntary teaching in our home we know as Penketh Pool.

"Our aim remains unchanged to teach children and adults from Penketh and the surrounding areas to swim, educating all in lifesaving skills which are important especially with so many dangerous waterways in the area."

The next intake will be in September, however the club welcomes new members aged four and above to get in touch and register on the waiting list by visiting the club's Facebook page www.facebook.com/psc1974/.
