A BOARD gaming night has been set up in Stockton Heath library as part of a campaign to keep the site open.

Jon Middleton has set up the monthly event at the Alexandra Road library to contribute to its growing list of community activities.

It takes place on the third Thursday of every month from 7.30pm until 10.30pm and is open to people of all abilities who are over 16.

Jon said: "The types of games we play are popular modern board games varying from very simple to the complex.

"There are literally hundreds of different ones available.

"We don't play the stuff that used to cause family arguments when we were kids such as Monopoly and Cluedo!

"Instead we play games like Ticket to Ride, Pandemic and Codenames.

"In some of these games players work together as teams to beat the game rather than competing against each other.

"In the first few sessions I've run we've been getting about 15 people aged from 18 to 80."

Games are provided but people are welcome to bring their own.
