MAY The 4th Be With You at The Legh Arms in Knutsford as the Saga continues.

The May Day Ibiza party at the Brook Street pub is set for a sixth successive year as Lempo delivers another line-up fit for a festival.

In 2014, local DJ and music producer Mike McGuinness, better known by the stage name Lempo, launched an Ibiza-themed party to bring his wealth of musical experience in club culture to the community.

What has since transpired is now the annual Eivissa Partido, which takes place every May Day, and sees the likes of Judge Jules, Artful Dodger, Brandon Block and Phats and Small descend on Knutsford to grace the decks at the pub.

Returning for its much-anticipated sixth year, Mike has secured another great line-up fit, with the original innovator of Chicago house, Marshall Jefferson, alongside remixing team K-Klass.

Completing the billing is local DJ and producer, Ruff Diamond, and Lempo, with the addition of live percussionist, Jason Congas and Saxophonist, Rosemary Quaye.

Mike said: “I wanted to keep bringing the Ibiza party vibe to Knutsford for as long as I can, and it’s safe to say we have now established ourselves in the calendar.

“Many of my friends don’t get the opportunity to see my shows and this started as my way of bringing the show to them.

“The event now has a firm foothold as one of the most coveted parties in the local music scene.

“We’ve built up something that delivers on credibility, party atmosphere and a unique sense of nostalgia.

“For this one we are pulling out all the stops to have none other than the Godfather of House, Marshall Jefferson join us.”

Landlord Paul Gunning said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with this year’s line-up.

“Following on from last year with Judge Jules was never going to be easy, but you couldn’t ask for more than a legend like Marshall Jefferson.

“The addition of some live music will bring a fantastic extra twist, it promises to be another epic night - we can’t wait.”

Previous years have seen the 300 tickets sell out in advance, with wristbands for this year’s event priced at £10 and available to buy over the bar in the venue. Doors open at 7pm on Saturday, May 4, through to 1am.

Marshall Jefferson is one of the founding fathers of house music.

Born in Chicago, he was a central figure in the development of the Chicago house scene and produced many timeless seminal house productions.

He has worked with the best in the business, from fellow founding father Frankie Knuckles to Roy Davis Jr., Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley, Felix Da Housecat and Lil Louis.

‘Move Your Body’ which was released on Trax in 1986, and is recognised as a genre-defining moment, has been acclaimed as ‘The House Music Anthem!’.

K-Klass had great chart success with their first major hit ‘Rhythm Is A Mystery’, sung by Bobbi Depasois, released in 1991 - the track reached number three on the UK chart.

‘Let Me Show’ was also a big hitter, reaching 13 in 1993. Subsequently, the group has released two albums, Universal and K2.

K-Klass continue to produce and remix dance tracks to this day, in more recent times K-Klass curate and perform ‘Cream Classics’ alongside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
