Phillip Beddoes, a 16-year-old student from Montgomery, has won the Rotary Young Chef competition for North Wales and the North West.
Phillip is studying a VRQ Level 1 in Catering and Hospitality at Newtown College.
The Rotary Young Chef competition, sponsored by Filippo Berio, is a four-stage national competition with the finals to be held in Leeds this weekend (Saturday, April 27).
The competition supports and encourages development of cookery skills and involves leading industry professionals in the judging process. The final round promises the winner a trophy and cash prize.
Phillip came away from the district competition as winner with a huge trophy to show for it. Newtown Rotary Club has supported Phillip in his endeavours and was pleased to catch up with him and lecturer Shaun Bailey at Themes Restaurant, at Newtown College.
