HOLMES Chapel Comprehensive School is seeking to reorganise its layout to enable the creation of new classrooms.

The school opened as a purpose-built comprehensive and sixth form in September 1978.

It is seeking planning approval to carry out internal and external demolition to the back of the school to allow for the internal reconfiguration of classrooms, with the addition of a small extension at the rear of the school.

The demolition works would involve internal walls being removed to allow for a more efficient classroom configuration.

Alongside this, one of the current classrooms would be extended, as well as the existing retaining wall, to the rear exit of the building.

The planned internal works involve new walls being built to create seven new classrooms.

The extension of the existing classroom would allow for this space to be split into two, creating an additional teaching space.

The proposed works would not affect the existing parking the school requires.

Full planning permission for the work is being sought from Cheshire East Council, and comments on the plans, reference 19/1881C, can be submitted on the council’s planning portal until May 22.
