POLICE are keen to speak to two drivers who may have witnessed a West Kirby crash which saw two people taken to hospital.

Emergency services were called at around 2.45pm to the junction of Saughall Massie Road and China Farm Lane on Thursday, May 9 following reports of a crash.

It is believed a blue Peugeot 107 had left the road before a Vauxhall Corsa crashed into a stationary Vauxhall Zafira which was parked in a lay-by.

An 84-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Zafira, was taken to hospital with critical chest injuries.

A male pedestrian was also taken to hospital with head and shoulder injuries.

All drivers are assisting police with their enquiries.

Detectives are eager to trace the drivers of a large tipper truck and a Hyundai people carrier that was captured on CCTV just seconds before the collision.

Police also want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash, anyone who may have driven past the scene or remember seeing the emergency services.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Merseyside Police via @MerPolCC, quoting reference 528 of 9 May 2019 or the Roads Policing Investigation Unit directly on 0151 777 5747.
