CREWE Alexandra boss Dave Artell says players who have been offered new contracts for next season are running out of time to sign them.

George Ray, Jon Guthrie, Perry Ng and Ollie Turton have all been offered fresh terms at Gresty Road after their current deals expired at the end of the season.

However, none of them have moved to commit their future to the club and Artell says the clock is ticking for all four players.

Crewe would be entitled to compensation for Ray and Ng should they decide to leave as they are under the age of 24, but Guthrie and Turton would be able to walk away for nothing.

Artell says he would like the players in question to remain with The Alex and is “optimistic” about them signing on the dotted line.

“I haven’t spoken to them and nothing has really changed. They know what the deadline is,” he told crewealex.net.

“They have until next Monday to re-sign and they have a decision to make.

“I am adamant on that because we have to move on. I hope they all sign and I remain optimistic that they will.

“If they do not want to be here, they know they just have to tell me.

“If they sign, then that is great and want we want. If they don’t, then we move on.

“When one door closes another one opens for someone else. That’s football and you have to quickly move on.”

Goalkeeper David Richards and midfielder Ollie Finney have both signed the contract extensions offered to them to remain at Gresty Road.

However, experienced midfielder Danny Hollands will be leaving the club and Artell says he has accepted an offer from a club in the south, closer to his family home.

“I spoke to Danny last night and he informed me that he has been offered by a club closer to home,” Artell said.

“I respect that and he was apologetic on the phone because I know he enjoyed his time with us.”
