A STAND of 135 for the fourth wicket proved to be in vein as Nantwich's ECB Premier League clash with Timperley on Saturday was abandoned.
Both the Dabbers and Timpers went into the encounter at The King’s School in Chester with outside title hopes but rain put a dampner on proceedings.
In perfect conditions and a magnificent background, the Dabbers ran up 216, the highlight being the partnership between Irish international Liam O’Brien (75) and Luke Robinson (68).
Jack White (4-30) and Rudolf Brenner (4-68) were the chief tormentors.
In reply, the hosts were going well at 55-0 in the 12th over, with Grant Hodnett 32no, when a storm arrived from the Welsh hills.
With no mopping up appliances available the game was called off.
O’Brien injured a shoulder dropping a catch off the bowling of Jimmy Warrington and had to leave the field.
