Crewe Alexandra 1 Newport County 1
CREWE Alexandra recovered from the early sending-off of Perry Ng to record their second successive home draw on Saturday.
The visitors had already gone ahead through Frank Nouble when Ng was dismissed for a second booking.
However, Chris Dagnall levelled for The Alex just a minute after his side were reduced to 10 men.
This was a third home game in succession for Dave Artell’s side in all competitions as this fixture was reversed to allow work on Newport’s pitch to be completed.
The Exiles started well and took the lead when Nouble tapped home the rebound after Alex stopper Ben Garratt had saved Joss Labadie’s effort.
Things got worse for the hosts when, having been booked just before the goal, Ng mistimed a tackle and was shown a second yellow card.
However, Artell’s side found the perfect response when George Cooper’s low cross caused chaos in the Newport defence and Dagnall took advantage to open his account for the season.
The Alex are at home again on Saturday as they welcome Barnet to Gresty Road, kick off 3pm.
Crewe Alexandra: Garratt, Ng, Walker, Raynes, Nolan, Cooper (Bowery, 86), Porter, Wintle, Pickering, Dagnall (Ainley, 76), Lowery. Subs not used: Richards, Dale, Kirk, Finney, Sass-Davies.
