City of Liverpool 1 Nantwich Town 2

SEAN Cooke’s injury-time winner propelled Nantwich Town into the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Joel Stair had given Dabbers a half-time lead that was cancelled out by Luke Denson, but Cooke’s 95th-minute intervention earned them a tie with Shepshead Dynamo in the next round.

Both sides had chances in an evening opening but it was Dabbers who took the lead when Stair rose highest to head home Matt Bell’s corner.

The hosts went on the front foot after the break in search of an equaliser and it duly came when Denson curled a free kick past Dabbers stopper Krystian Burzynski.

Stair hit the bar with another header, while Bell had a volley cleared off the line as Dabbers pressed for a winner before Burzynski pulled off a fine save to deny Denson a second goal.

With the game set for a replay, Nantwich broke away and the ball found Cooke, who drove a shot through a crowd of bodies and into the bottom corner.
