CREWE racer Rob Smith is aiming to end the MINI Challenge UK season on a high at Donington this weekend.

Smith is seventh in the drivers’ standings, 63 points adrift of a coveted top-three place going into the season’s final round.

A top-three place looked a realistic prospect going into the previous round at Oulton Park, but a crash in the first race meant his car was unable to start the second.

However, Smith is adamant he can turn his luck around at Donington.

“I’m definitely confident for Donington, we’re going there aiming to try and qualify on pole and win at least one race,” he said.

“Oulton was one to forget, I haven’t even thought about it since to be honest. All we’re doing is looking forward and focusing on doing the best we can at Donington.

“Without the bad luck we’ve had I think we’d still be pushing Brett [Smith] for the title.
