Nantwich Town 1 Kettering Town 1

NANTWICH Town will be in the hat for the FA Cup first round draw, but will need a replay to get past Kettering.

Sean Cooke’s second-half free kick ensured the Dabbers would take their place in the draw, cancelling out Michael Richens’ opener.

The sides will now replay tomorrow, Tuesday, for a place in the first round.

Both sides had joy in attack early on, with both goalkeepers forced into action to keep the game scoreless.

However, the Poppies took the lead on the stroke of half-time when the Nantwich defence did not react quickly enough to debutant keeper Will Jaaskalainen’s parry from a corner, allowing Richens to slam the ball home.

Dave Forbes had a shot which brushed the post as Nantwich piled on the pressure after the break until Cooke brilliantly restored parity.

After being brought down on the edge of the area, the midfielder curled the free kick around the way and into the top corner.

Both sides will be in the hat for the first round draw, which takes place tonight, Monday, live on BBC Two at 7pm.
