EMILY Martin’s consistency during the 2018 campaign will be recognised when she collects prizes at an awards ceremony on Friday.

The Weaver Valley Cycling Club rider has finished as runner-up in the Manchester and District Ladies’ Cycling Association’s Best All-Rounder Championship.

She celebrated wins in the Carlton Handicap Trophy and the Madge Coupe Trophy – after a 10-mile time trial – to classify second behind Sarah Grant (Vision Racing).

Martin’s average speed over a range of distances, from 10 miles up to 50 miles, was an impressive 23.76mph.

The silverware will be presented during a dinner at Alma Lodge Hotel in Stockport.

Meanwhile novice Louise Mainwaring represented Weaver Valley during the latest round of the North West Cyclocross League at Beacon Park.

She tackled a set of new, technical courses in dry conditions before classifying inside the top 20 in the women’s race.

Becky Preece (Hope Factory RT) took first prize after completing six laps in a time of 47:30.

Mainwaring occupies 18th position in the standings after competing in five of the seven fixtures.
