A MOTHER and daughter were part of a Cheshire team to prevail in a head-to-head with their North Wales counterparts during a five-mile road race.
Carolyn Dooley, a member at Vale Royal Athletics Club, was invited by selectors to complete along with Chloe at Abergele where they both prevailed in their respective age-group categories.
“I guess it’s not every day a mum enjoys the privilege of competing for the county with her girl,” she said.
“For us, it as an honour.”
Chloe, making her senior debut for Cheshire, was the fastest of the under 20s women in the field and reached the finish in 32:30.
Carolyn was also among the first 10 women to cross the line and ranked highest in the over 45s category in a time of 32:52 to help Cheshire record a team victory.
Another Vale Royal runner, James Ainsworth, was 12th overall and third of the over 40s men after clocking 28:20 – a personal best for the course.
He said: “It was great to run with the county team again and hopefully it can be the start of a comeback after struggling with injuries for the past couple of months.”
