CREWE Alexandra boss Dave Artell says it is time for his side to start turning performances into results, starting with tomorrow’s game against Barnet.

The Alex welcome the Londoners to Gresty Road having drawn both of their League Two fixtures this season.

A 2-2 opening day draw with Mansfield was followed by last week’s 1-1 stalemate against Newport, with a 2-1 loss to Championship side Bolton in the Carabao Cup sandwiched in between.

Artell’s side have the unusual honour of starting the campaign with four home games in a row, but the Crewe boss wants his side to use it to their advantage.

“If you had said at the start of the season that we would have four games at home then we would have taken it,” he told crewealex.net “You prefer to play at home than away, but over the season you play everyone home and away.

“I think the fans that have come to the three games have seen us perform well.

“Their support has been terrific by the way, so hopefully we can get that first win to make them even more satisfied.

“We have had decent performances but not quite managed to get the result. With the performances being there, hopefully we can start with the three points on Saturday.”

Artell believes there are enough goals within his Crewe side to make progress and has placed emphasis on the defensive side of things.

“It has not been disastrous. We haven’t been turned over by a superior team but we haven’t won either,” he said.

“We all think that we have goals in this team. We will score goals and it is up to us as a collective to stop them.”
